Our higher education client in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Registrar for a Direct Hire position.
Job Summary:
The University Registrar is responsible for the management and oversight of all operations within the Registrar's Office. This includes maintaining the integrity of student academic records, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and external regulations, and providing exceptional service to students, faculty, and staff. The Registrar serves as a critical liaison between academic units, administrative offices, and external stakeholders, supporting the university's mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategic Planning:- Provide leadership and vision for the Registrar's Office, aligning operations with institutional priorities.
- Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.
Academic Records Management:- Maintain the accuracy, security, and integrity of all student academic records in compliance with FERPA and other legal requirements.
- Oversee student registration, course scheduling, transcript processing, and degree auditing processes.
Data Reporting and Compliance:- Prepare and submit institutional reports to accrediting bodies, state agencies, and federal entities as required.
- Provide accurate enrollment and graduation data to support institutional decision-making.
Collaboration and Communication:- Serve as a liaison to academic departments, faculty, and administration to ensure alignment of academic policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with students regarding policies, deadlines, and academic requirements.
Technology and System Management:- Manage student information systems (SIS) and related technologies to streamline processes and improve user experience.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to maintain and enhance technological systems supporting registrar operations.
Team Management and Development:- Supervise and mentor staff within the Registrar's Office, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
Policy Development and Implementation:- Develop and enforce academic policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring fairness and consistency.
- Stay informed of best practices and changes in higher education to recommend policy updates as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in a Registrar's Office or related higher education administrative role.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including staff supervision and process improvement.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of FERPA, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft) and reporting tools.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with strategic enrollment management initiatives.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in higher education.

Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time, on-campus position. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to meet deadlines or support institutional events.
