Job Description LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking a Unix System/Network Administrator with technical expertise to support Second Level Engineering (SLE) operational support activities and to assist with the plan for the upcoming tech refresh and deployment of systems, such as the National Airspace System (NAS) Aeronautical Information Management Enterprise System (NAIMES). Provide feasibility analysis, problem definition, requirements development, and solution development. Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code. Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming. Responsibilities
- Installation, configuration, patching and upgrading of Unix (Oracle/Redhat) operating systems (OS)/hardware (HW) and related products.
- Implementing and maintaining OS/HW security.
- Performing system tuning, performance monitoring, and network troubleshooting.
- Setting up and maintaining documentation and standards.
- Planning growth and changes (capacity planning).
- Creating and maintaining SQL and PL/SQL queries and shell scripts.
- Finding and debugging malfunctioning programs affecting OS integrity.
- Recommending and implementing emerging technologies.
- Be available for on-call support as needed.
- Evaluating system features, specifications, standards, and making recommendations.
- Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
- Suggesting improvements to system-specific configuration of NAIMES services/systems.
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in any field relevant to the related description of duties.
Qualifications
- At least ten (10) years of Unix system administration experience.
- Strong background Oracle Solaris (Highly recommend Unix/Red Hat Certifications).
- Experience with critical operations in a large-scale secure environment; preferably have knowledge of the NAIMES services and systems.
- Strong hands-on experience as a Unix/Linux Level System Administrator such as Oracle Solaris and/or Unix/Linux (Red Hat Linux Enterprise Server/Workstation Suite and Red Hat Satellite Server Suite preferred) including knowledge of related hardware/software.
- Detailed knowledge of Unix principles, file editing, Unix commands, and file manipulation
- Experience with web-based applications
- Experience with VMware VSphere Enterprise Server Suite
- Experience with NetApps System Storage Manager
- Experience with Cisco C240 server hardware
- Versed in technology insertion to support FAA Tech Refresh activities.
- Experience from analysis through test/authority to operate (ATO) of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) and Microsoft Visio.
- Experience supporting engineering disciplines across a system lifecycle.
- Knowledge of the FAA National Airspace System (NAS) and NAS information systems
