Unscrambler Operator Needed for Day Shift!

Hourly Rate: $24.65

Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC) located in Scotia, CA was formed in July 2008 through the reorganization of the former Pacific Lumber Company and related entities. Responsibilities:
  • Operates unscrambler to move rough lumber from sawmill transfer chains to trimmer lug loader, or sorter transfer chains to stacker infeed chains;
  • Monitors and keeps lumber in a single layer from unscrambler to trimmer lug loader or stacker infeed chains;
  • Lifts and pulls raw lumber, trash and broken boards that are skewed before, after and on top of unscramble;
  • Tipples out trash or strips to waste conveyor;
  • Keeps workstation area and floor below clean and clear of sawdust, wood chips, bark, strips and other foreign objects;
  • Participates with team effort in work area;
  • Notifies maintenance of breakdowns in work area and if needed provides assistance;
  • Communicates regularly with other team members
  • Keeps work area clean;
  • Maintains production flow efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • one year related experience and/or training is required with demonstrated ability to execute the above essential duties.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, etc.).
  • Ability to add, subtract, divide, and multiply in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and memos.
  • Ability to write simple sentences and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, hard hat, and fall protection as required.
