Salary InformationCompensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. **A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensuratewith education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations** Nature of Work The fundamental reason that this position exists is to develop, promote, and administer a comprehensive urban forestry program to effectively and efficiently maintain the city's urban forest resources. Work functions include managing the city's urban forestry program, managing urban forestry related projects, acting as an urban forestry resource, receiving or handling complaints and requests, and supervising two or more employees. The position is directly supervised by the Director of Planning. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in urban forestry, forestry, arboriculture, environmental science or a closely related field and three years of professional forestry experience. NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.Special Requirements Certification as an arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture within six months of employment which must be maintained while in the classification.
