Its postgraduate medical education programs include family medicine and transitional year.Job SummaryThe Urgent Care Assistant performs basic patient, visitor, and staff support services in order to enhance the flow and performance of the Urgent Care Department. These services may include stocking supplies both clinical and clerical, transporting patients to and from treatment areas, greeting patients and visitors as well as performing lobby and room checks to keep patients and visitors informed of their progress, and general cleaning in order to maintain a clean, safe, and professionally appearing environment.Minimum QualificationsMinimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.Minimum Years of Experience: None.Substitutable Education & Experience: None.Required Certifications/Licensure: Must have CPR or obtain CPR within 6 months of employment.Required Training: Basic knowledge of computers.Essential Functions
  • Stocking patient care rooms and clerical areas with required supplies based on set par levels and at the request of staff.
  • Ordering supplies based on set par levels. Receiving supplies and verifying that orders were delivered correctly.
  • Maintaining equipment and supplies in the appropriate areas and checking for cleanliness and working condition.
  • Answers the telephone in all areas and assists callers with obtaining the required information or directing calls to the appropriate staff or department.
  • Performs cleaning duties in the Urgent Care to ensure a clean, safe, and professionally appearing environment. This includes appropriately cleaning treatment rooms between each patient visit.
  • Interacts with patients and visitors in a manner that is welcoming and inviting to the Urgent Care. Keeps patients and visitors informed of delays and progress. Demonstrates ability to converse with patients and visitors of all age groups.
  • Assists Clinical Coordinators, Nurses, and Physicians with transporting patients to and from treatment rooms, lobby, discharge, and to ancillary departments as requested.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists with Medical Records storage and secures records within the Medical Records area as appropriate.
  • Assist Guest Services by offering wayfinding for guests and visitors.
  • Assists clinical staff with transporting specimens to the lab using proper technique.
  • Answer nurse call lights.
  • Assists with patient referrals and scheduling tests.
  • Empties linen bags and trash as needed.
  • Completes patient rounding by performing lobby checks and room checks as well as assisting Volunteers in their assigned areas.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency such as a fire or other disaster.
