A postdoctoral position in Dr. Dev Karan's lab is available to conduct research on projects in the area of molecular biology of cancer. Our laboratory has multiple exciting directions related to tumor immunology, immunotherapy, and molecular characterization of cancer cell biology with an emphasis on understanding the therapeutic targeting of cancer.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and or M.D. in the areas of cancer biology, molecular/cell biology, or other related fields of biomedical sciences and should be self-motivated, able to design and conduct experiments, prepare and present their work at meetings, and write scientific manuscripts. Research specific skills include but are not limited to cell and molecular biology techniques and immunological assays. Prior experience in the areas of tumor immunology/immunotherapy with live animals or experience in mouse models related to prostate/breast cancer is a plus. The applicant is required to conduct research activities lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as to train students/ technologists when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute research experiments.
  • Analyze experimental data and update research notebooks.
  • Reading literature relevant to research and training objectives.
  • Preparation of manuscripts and written reports.
  • Oral presentations at group/local meetings, attendance at seminars.
  • Training students and technicians.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A PhD or PhD/MD degree in the field of Biological Science is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous working experience in prostate cancer, breast cancer, or any area of immunology.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lab-based environment.
  • Occasionally: Works with poor ventilation or with regular exposure to odors.
  • Occasional exposure to infectious material/diseases.
  • Regular exposure to radiation, chemicals, solvents.
  • Requires balancing to prevent falling or erratic movement.
  • Light lifting or carrying 25 lbs. or less.
  • Moderate lifting or carrying 26-50 lbs.
  • Constantly: Normal office situation, Requires good near or distant vision.
  • Requires distinguishing colors and/or depth perception to judge distances.
  • Frequently: Typically sitting at a desk or table.
  • Intermittently sitting, standing, stooping.
  • Typically standing and/or walking.
  • Requires handling by seizing, holding, grasping, or turning hands, but without finger dexterity, requires good hearing, requires feeling to perceive an object(s) size, shape, temperature, or texture by means of senses in your skin.
