Position: Used Oil Recovery Lab Technician
Location: Tonawanda, NY
Schedule: M-F (Days)
Compensation: $24.00-$27.00/hour (negotiable based on experience)
Job SummaryThe Used Oil Recovery Lab Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient collection, transportation, and handling of used oil and other hazardous materials from various sources. This position ensures compliance with environmental regulations and company policies while contributing to the environmentally responsible disposal or recycling of used oil.
Duties/Responsibilities - Load and unload Used Oil Trucks, including retrieving truck samples for testing
- Complete all daily operations logs for incoming and transfer of used oil
- Load water shipments to waste-to-energy collection facility and complete required paperwork
- Prepare tanks and transfer including chemical additives, removal of water and rag, and retrieval of sample for distillation
- Troubleshoot tank and pump concerns.
- Coordinate with outside repair companies for tank and pump maintenance
- Maintain grounds during winter season
- Responsible for filter maintenance (cleaning filters and baskets.)
- Oversee supplies needed for truck loading/unloading and pump operation
- Responsible for lab analysis of truck testing (PCB's/Halogens)
- Performs pH testing in used oil samples
- Responsible for monthly tank inspections and associated logs
- Adhere to strict safety procedures and protocols to minimize risks associated with handling hazardous materials
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations governing the collection, transportation, and disposal of used oil and hazardous waste
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and client

Education and Experience - High school diploma or equivalent
- Relevant machine operation experience
- Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at a time
- Pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds at a time
- Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals/fuels or fumes
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions
