Position Overview:
This position will be part of a two-person NRRI IT team that covers both the Duluth and Coleraine facilities. It will provide support to both the central administrative staff and researchers. Primary responsibilities are providing technical user support for hardware, software, operating systems, networks, security, and telecommunications. Secondary responsibilities will be to coordinate hardware purchases, manage software licenses, and assist with the administration of servers, databases, and applications. The position will be based in Duluth, but occasional travel to Coleraine is required.
Job Responsibilities:
(70%) Technical User Support
* Provide technical user support for a wide range of hardware and software related information technology systems and their components, including personal and lab computers; audiovisual equipment; network hardware and connectivity; operating systems and software; security; and telecommunications. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues or elevate them.
* Maintain a parts and peripherals inventory and provide basic services to ensure hardware functionality and compatibility
(10%) Procurement Coordination
* Coordinate purchase and configuration of employees and lab computers. Research and advise staff on hardware/software/peripheral purchases.
(10%) IT Support
* Provide varied support to research and administrative staff, including developing resources for information technology users; coordinate support and training on software use; manage software licenses; and provide custom solutions for information technology system needs.
(10%) Systems Support
* Support other information technology needs. Assist in the maintenance of information technology systems software, hardware, and virtual servers.
* Work directly with administrative staff to develop, maintain, improve, and execute processes that support human resources, accounting, and other administrative needs.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS plus at least two years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least six years.
* Proficiency with both Windows and Mac OS
* Basic windows and linux server administration skills
* Basic SQL programming and database administration skills
* Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
* Valid US driver's license with clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Proficiency with Linux OS
* Basic Desktop Computer Repair
* Customer Service Experience
* Advanced programming skills with SQL
* Advanced programming skills with an additional language, such as JavaScript, VBScript, PHP, or Python

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $60,000-$75,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
