POSITION SUMMARY: To assist patrons at meetings, conferences or entertainment events by performing duties, such as collecting admission tickets and passes from patrons, assisting in finding seats, searching for lost articles, and locating such facilities as rest rooms and meeting rooms.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS: - High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Some evening and weekend work will be required
- Strong customer service skills required.
- Ability to provide team leadership.
- Ability to train others and to delegate responsibility.
- Must have strong organizational skills.
- Good verbal communication skills required. Ability to communicate effectively and able to deal with a wide variety of people tactfully and courteously in person.
- Bilingual - English/Spanish.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES: - Sell and collect admission tickets and passes from patrons at entertainment events.
Greet patrons attending entertainment events. Examine tickets or passes to verify authenticity, using criteria such as color and date issued. Guide patrons to exits or provide other instructions or assistance in case of emergency. Maintain order and ensure adherence to safety rules Provide assistance with patrons' special needs, such as helping those with wheelchairs. - Direct patrons to restrooms or meeting rooms
Refuse admittance to undesirable persons or persons without tickets or passes. Assist patrons in finding seats, lighting the way with flashlights if necessary Search for lost articles or for parents of lost children Count and record number of tickets collected. Distribute programs to patrons. Ensures that aisles, walkways, and designated seating areas are clear, clean, and safe. Calmly assists with disputes regarding tickets and seats. Notifies supervisor of any problems with facilities, supplies, and venue. Assists guests with complaints or concerns; escalates concerns to supervisor when necessary Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in after hours and on call rotation schedule. DUTIES: - Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices.
Provide necessary training to new ushers or usher replacements. Ensure that ushers provide the above outlined responsibilities. Assist with events scheduled in the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance. Perform other duties as assigned by the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance Director. Experience working closely with different directors, departments, including different entities that rent or use the facility and the ability to tactfully adapt to their needs depending on the production. - Other duties as assigned.
