Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Senior Utilities Plant Mechanic. Examples of Duties
- Assists senior plant mechanics with repair of water treatment plant equipment such as bar screens, mechanical mixers, pumps, engines, blowers, gas and air compressors, chemical feed systems, and chlorinators.
- Performs complete overhaul of water treatment machinery and equipment, including chlorinators, evaporators, chemical feeders, conveyors and pumps of all types.
- Maintains large filters involving adjusting and installing control valves and units.
- Replaces high pressure steam lines and works on return lines and installs valves.
- Makes major and minor repairs to water mains and pumps.
- May be required to work at a sewage treatment plant on a relief basis or as needed.
- May be required to operate a treatment plant.
- Fills in for Senior Mechanic in their absence.
- Performs preventative maintenance work.
- Completes work orders
