The Utilities Superintendent is responsible for interacting with a variety of staff at all levels in an everchanging environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Aptitude to anticipate problems, critical issues and opportunities as they arise; along with the capability to creatively problem solve and bring planning and supervision to Foremen. The ideal candidate will develop and enhance customer relationships by providing excellent service in the mobile home park industry. Ideal candidate must also be proficient in SUE Utility locating and designating equipment in a complex utility infrastructure environment.
- Planning and implementation to ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
- Reviews and understands contract documents.
- Reviews and understands construction documents for completeness and constructability.
- Coordinates plans and specifications with design engineers and resolves discrepancies.
- Participates in the development and management of project schedules to include a three week and a six week look ahead.
- Develops a site logistics plans.
- Manages the utilizations of company tools, equipment, and material.
- Collaborates with the project partner, superintendents, and other office personnel to ensure job site productivity.
- Accurately map all utilities within the project area using ground-penetrating radar and other locating devices.
- Complete detailed and accurate daily reports, forms and field sketches, both electronically as well as drafted by hand.
- Represent and communicate on behalf of Boudreau Utility Locating with clients, sub-contractors, and third parties during field duties.
- Drives, operates, and helps maintain vacuum excavation vehicles to provide vertical location and disposition of underground utilities.
Coaching, supervisory, and development responsibilities
- Conducts on-site project orientations.
- Conducts effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings.
- Supervises project partners, foremen and crews.
- Responsible for mentoring, managing and conducting timely performance evaluations and career discussions with foreman and crew members.
- Conducts disciplinary actions as needed.
- Conducts interviews as needed.
- Ensures proper task coding of work hours on timecards.
- Manages and tracks work progress and craft productivity.
- Manages new and current team member training, and ensures they are current prior to starting task.
Safety
- Reports all employee accidents, injuries, and incidents immediately and ensures proper documentation is completed and submitted to adequate office personnel.
- Ensures that any injured employee immediately seeks appropriate medical attention.
- Ensures that all employees wear appropriate protective safety gear and follow all safety regulations and requirements while on the job site.
- Conducts tail-gate safety meetings with all crew members and ensures all related forms and attendance sheets are completed by the employees attending the safety meetings.
- Provides high level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team members. This includes keeping the job site (equipment, bin area, lay down space, supplies and materials) clean and safe.
- Recognizes and mitigates unfavorable working conditions.
- Identifies opportunities to improve processes and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Minimum four years pipeline construction experience with one of those years having supervisory experience in wet utilities required.
- Associate or Bachelors degree in construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management preferred.
- Must have a valid CA Drivers License and a good driving record.
- Proven ability and time management skills to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex projects with tight deadlines.
- Demonstrates flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem solving.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented diverse environment.
- Superior written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills.
- Ability to write routine documents, understand written and multi-step written procedures and oral instructions in English.
- Strong organization, record-keeping and follow up skills.
- Complies with company policies and procedures.
- Performs job safely with respect to others, property and individual safety.
Pay Range: $90,000-$110,000 DOE
