Responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of various measurement equipment to accurately meter steam, water, thermal systems, and gases. Working directly with a wide variety of meters such as differential pressure, vortex, ultrasonic, positive displacement, and other types. Duties include interacting with customers on occasion to resolve measurement issues. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Maintains and troubleshoots measurement equipment. • Performs calibrations on meters including blowing down and calibrating orifice plates. • Assists with new meter installations. • Performs and documents routine maintenance and checks of meters. • Inspects and calibrates instruments and test equipment periodically and adjusts calibration to ensure functioning within specified or established standards. • Install, repair, and replace insulation jackets and/or heat trace (both electric and steam) for impulse lines. • Interacts with engineering, project management, operations, customers, and other technical groups as required to resolve issues. • Assist other technical groups as needed. • The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business, at various levels of the organization, in a business-like and professional manner is required. Education and/or Experience: • High School Degree/GED (Required) • Relevant vocational school degree or certification (Preferred) • Experience working in a plant or utility environment (Required) • Experience working with steam systems (Preferred) • Experience working with pressure, flow, and/or temperature measurement (Required) • Utility metering experience (Preferred) Qualifications • Must have valid drivers' license and proof of insurance • Must be able to operate a lift (working up to 40' overhead) and ladders. (Lift training will be provided). • Ability to work in a variety of physical environments at varying temperatures (hot and cold). • Capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs • Capable of vigorous outdoor activities and have manual dexterity with physical ability to work extended hours, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, working with arms extended above the head, twisting upper body, standing for long periods, walking on catwalks, working in confined spaces, exposure to extreme weather conditions, driving a vehicle, operation of forklifts and light industrial equipment Competencies: • Knowledge of utility measurement principles and meter technologies. • Knowledge and demonstrated practice of industrial safety/OSHA rules/regulations, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, and others. • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software. • Good communication skills in English. • Excellent problem solving and demonstrated trouble shooting skills. • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. • Ability to follow procedures, work instructions and environmental rules and regulations. • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementation. • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. • Ability to consult manuals, read and interpret circuit diagrams, electrical schematics, and other drawings.
