GENERAL PURPOSE

As a Utility Sprayer, you'll apply finish to manufactured product in a way that meets or exceeds job-related expectations for safety, quality, reliability, and environmental management. You will problem-solve with the assistance of other team members and seek continuous improvement. All of your activities will be performed and completed with a high regard for the safety of others and yourself. You may also learn additional functions by cross-training in other departments as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Check stain number, apply the proper stain, match the stain shade on the component to obtain the desired stain shade, and wipe the stained component down to achieve an even and uniform application.

Ensure cleaning of needles and tips of spray guns, repair spray guns as needed, and change polyurethane, thinner, or catalyst as needed.

Ensure the proper application of polyurethane using spray guns, including determining the proper polyurethane application rate to eliminate runs

Ensure the proper application of stains, toners, and dyes using spray guns.

Follow MillerKnoll's recycling procedures for the proper disposal of items.

Follow MillerKnoll's standard quality guidelines for all products.

Follow the requirements of good documentation practices when handling quality records or controlled documents.

Inspect your personal work for quality, recognize flaws in finishing, and repair as necessary.

Learn and utilize the proper method for finishing each component and continue to follow this exact method of finishing for each corresponding component.

Work in a team environment.

Work overtime as needed for production needs.

Work with a safety-oriented mind set.

Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency

Skills and Abilities

Good interpersonal skills.

An attentiveness to detail.

The ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and solve smaller problems that may arise while finishing components.

The ability to work in a regulated environment.

The ability to read and understand safety data sheets when using chemicals.

Competent in basic math skills such as counting, adding, and subtracting.

Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams to meet goals.

Demonstrated willingness to adapt to a continually changing environment.

Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms for the duration of the shift.

Required to communicate and to be able to see with or without correction.
