Salary: $23.77 - $24.96 Hourly Location : Stockton, CA Job Type: Full-Time Regular Job Number: FY24-00040 Department: Maintenance Opening Date: 02/08/2024 Job Summary Under the supervision of the Supervisor, performs the regular and recurring fueling and cleaning of the buses, using departmental equipment as authorized to accomplish the work, and maintain the District's facilities. Shift subject to change per requirements of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations. 1. Clean bus equipment, including exterior washing, interior vacuuming, dusting, and washing windows. 2. Park buses after fueling. 3. Clean and inspect wheels on the fare boxes. 4. Empty and clean tops of trash containers; remove graffiti. 5. Service buses with fuel and oil. 6. Clean and maintain buses, building shop, and bus parking areas of RTD with the use of various shop equipment and devices. 7. Report defect in writing found while cleaning equipment and facilities. 8. Tighten loose mirrors as part of the Service Island Process. 9. Tighten signs in the field as part of the bus stop inspection process. 10. Perform and assist with road calls as required and other duties as assigned. 11. Follows all District procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous waste. 12. Operates in compliance with the District's health and safety procedures. QualificationsKnowledge of:
  • Acceptable standards for routine cleaning.
  • Commercial cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
  • Basic operation of work equipment and other cleaning equipment.
  • General safety practices related to work.
  • Proper use of cleaning tools, equipment, and supplies, including the use of various chemicals.
  • Application and proper use of cleaning tools, equipment, and supplies.
Ability to:
  • Perform manual labor under dirty and uncomfortable situations and in all types of weather conditions.
  • Perform continuous physical effort, including frequent bending, walking, manipulation of and heavy lifting of departmental equipment.
  • Use cleaning materials with skill and efficiency.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional disposition, demeanor and attitude with all customers, co-workers, staff, and supervisors at all times.
  • Report to work as required and on time.
  • Ability to obtain a Class B driver's license.
Education, Training and Experience: A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is: Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. At least six (6) months of prior demonstrated experience in custodial, bus/car/facility service and cleanup . Knowledge of general custodial service and cleaning procedures. Minimum 21 years of age. Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: A valid California Class B Driver License; or a valid California Class C Driver License with ability to obtain a California Class B Driver License permit within sixty (60) days of hire date; and a California Class B Driver License within one (1) year of hire date. Experience in a public transit agency or governmental setting is preferred. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this class. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical part and is occasional exposed to hot, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals.
