JOB OBJECTIVEThe vaccine coordinator will develop and implement routine and emergency vaccine management plan. The vaccine coordinator is responsible for all vaccine management activities, including training staff. The vaccine coordinator reports to the Clinicas Nurse Manager and is responsible for the vaccine management across all of the Clinicas Health Center sites.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Vaccine Coordinator is responsible for performing the following duties:* Ensures vaccines are delivered and designated employees at each site are trained to receive and store vaccines* Ensure processes are in place to monitor expiration dates and inventory rotation so that the shorter expiration dates are used first.* Responsible for the set up and monitoring of vaccine temperatures ensuring vaccine monitoring devices are properly working.* Ensure vaccine temperatures are being monitored at each site, and take immediate action when temperatures are outside acceptable ranges.* Implement the emergency vaccine management plan, if necessary.* Regularly review and analyze temperature data per policy.* Ensure all vaccine policies are up-to-date and reflect current vaccine management evidence based best practices.* Perform a physical inventory of all vaccines in stock. Accounting for doses of returned, expired or transferred vaccines since last order.RequirementsEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS* High School diploma or equivalent required.* Must be a graduate of an approved program in vocational nursing practices and techniques from an accredited school of nursing and possess a current Vocational Nurse license issued by the state of California.* Knowledgeable in vaccine management and coordination.* 2 Years' experience as an LVN and/or Vaccine Coordinator* Must have completed phlebotomy coursework and possess IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification.* Must be able to administer immunizations and injections.* Knowledgeable in measures for preventing spread of diseases.* Ability to use sterilizing equipment and be knowledgeable in methods of handling sterile material and dressings is required.* Current CPR certification is required.* Must have knowledge of first aid procedures and have the ability to render such aid in case of emergency.* Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively in writing and verbally; accurate spelling and grammar.
