Role: Validation Engineer

Duration: 20+ Months

Location: Urbandale IA

Onsite in Urbandale or Remote available.

This position will require travel to the west coast where a lot of these customers are located along with other parts of the country. Looking for someone who is motivated to learn, pays attention to detail, enjoys solving problems, and is eager to work with customers.

Job Description:

In this role you will be working directly with customers who produce high value crops. You will understand how our technology solutions help them be more productive and profitable, while finding areas that we have opportunities to improve. You will spend time on detailed documentation of what's working, and what's not for each customer. As we develop new solutions – you will enable these solutions for customers to gain quick feedback.

You will work with multiple different teams and individuals within the client to achieve success: Product managers who are crafting solutions to problems, engineers who are writing code, user experience who are designing new interactions, field testing teams who are trying new hardware, and experts within client business on high value crops. Building a cohesive team across client is an important part of this role.

Travel will be required multiple times per month, for multiple days at a time, to meet with customers onsite – mostly in the western part of the United States. There could be some international travel at some point. You will be the eyes and ears for our teams working on solutions while bringing the customer closer to the teams doing the work. Our customers have a trusted dealer(s) that work with them regularly – and you will be responsible for keeping them aware of what's happening with each customer.

You will be involved with multiple customers and pull them all together into a single HVC reference customer list. As you build relationships with them, you will understand which customers are a good fit for certain types of research and validation. You will achieve success by conducting in-person visits, regular phone/video calls, text messages, surveys, etc.

What makes you stand out:

Looking for someone that is comfortable installing hardware and software on client equipment to enable field testing. Familiarity with client systems on the web/mobile side of the client Operations Center and on machine technology including Gen4/G5, MTG's, Starfire.

Important qualities include being organized, focused on building relationships, driven by solving problems, able to break complex problems into smaller chunks, and having regular/transparent communication.

High Value Crop Production System Overview:

We are working on connecting and integrating a new group of customers who grow crops in beds, on vines, or in trees. We will use our existing technology that we have today (both hardware and software) to add incremental value for these customers.
