DescriptionThis position is responsible for coordinating patient transportation services. Position also provides oversight of resident labeling, equipment cleaning, and other assigned duties. Performs clerical duties for staffing office, including filing, taking call offs or other communication from staff when back up is required. EDUCATION:High School diploma or equivalent required. WORK EXPERIENCE:Supervisory experience preferred..Prior transportation coordination experience preferred.Familiarity with computer scheduling system preferred.Schedules all resident appointments and arranges most appropriate mode of transportation based on resident acuity, i.e. family, facility van, ambulance transport or stretcher . Coordinates the scheduling of van staff to transport patients. Assists with and schedules resident clothing labeling process as well as clothing cart delivery to units. Assigns out tasks to van personnel in down time. Ensures labeling equipment is maintained and fully functional.
- Processes all patient schedule changes/cancellations and reschedules appointments. Handles all incoming telephone calls related to appointment scheduling and/or transportation services. Acts as a liaison with ambulance companies and provides follow up with Director of Nursing on any issues/concerns.
- Provides clerical assistance daily as needed to staffing office.
- Serves as backup for staffing office personnel including phone answering, and other duties as assigned.
- Coordinates equipment cleaning under direction of Nursing Administration and assigns van staff to selected tasks during down time. Ensures proper training of technique through coordination of in-servicing with Infection Control and Biomed.
- Schedules van staff to complete education and competency trainings, as well as scheduling CPR certification/recertification. Collects and maintains valid licenses at all times. Assures all van staff attendance at mandatory in-services.
- Maintains mileage logs, inspection logs, maintenance records and transportation related information for review with Van Coordinator II. Schedules vehicle maintenance/repair with Plant Engineering.
- Schedules in house dentist appointments and tracks annual visit requirements under direction of Van Coordinator II.
