General Summary:
The Vehicle Safety Inspector performs state vehicle safety inspections tests, ensuring all vehicles meet quality standards and providing outstanding customer service.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform state inspections using appropriate equipment and adhering to prescribed rules, standards, and procedures
- Ensure all vehicles meet quality standards
- Provide outstanding customer service at all times
- Maintain, repair, and clean special equipment
Job Specifications:
- Read, interpret, and transcribe data to maintain accurate records
- 2 Year automotive trade school degree or minimum 2 years automotive experience
- Appropriate state inspection certification required
- Work with and through associates of other departments within the store
- Demonstrate manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs
- Comply with CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA policies
Working Conditions:
- Combination of indoor and outdoor environment, including noisy and/or inclement weather conditions
- Variable work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
- Comply with all state, federal, and company regulations, procedures, and work rules
- Adhere to all CarMax policies including Attendance, Proper Recording of Time, and EH&S standards
