Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership
- Provide Christ-centered, Biblically-directed, spiritual leadership to the School of Logic faculty and staff.
- Provide visionary leadership for the future of the School of Logic and to motivate others to unite in pursuit of the school's mission.
- Meet regularly with the Administrative team regarding operational issues.
- Assist in developing/revising course schedules and the course catalog.
- Develop procedures for smooth operations within the School of Logic.
- Oversee the formation of school policy at the School of Logic.
- Attend conferences selected to improve ability in leadership and knowledge of our models of schooling.
- Be visible on campus and at school activities.
- Ensure the safety of students and teachers by working with the Safety Director to plan for regular drills.
Parent and Constituent Relations
- Assist in planning and implementing strategies for organized parent input and involvement in the School of Logic.
- Plan and present at parent training sessions.
- Meet with parents to discuss students' academic and behavioral progress.
- Present at school informational sessions for prospective families.
- Conduct and participate in family interviews for prospective families.
- Provide support for other classical, Christian, collaborative schools.
- Help organize and run breakout sessions for parents throughout the semester.
Faculty & Staff Management
- Inspire, guide, direct, and evaluate School of Logic faculty and staff.
- Work with the Human Resources Manager to recruit, hire, and supervise faculty and staff.
- Model Biblical principles of leadership.
- Develop and maintain programs for professional growth and development for faculty and staff.
- Coordinate and lead faculty meetings based on need.
- Assist Academic Dean in overseeing and training faculty.
- Mentor and oversee School of Logic office staff.
- Plan and lead faculty development days.
Academic Oversight
- Assist/oversee Department Heads/Team Leaders in curriculum development.
- Frequently review lesson plans to ensure adherence to curriculum.
- Observe teachers to ensure effective instructional techniques.
- Oversee budget development for the School of Logic.
- Attend regular Academic Team meetings.
- Plan strategies for educational innovation and improvement.
- Review yearly standardized tests for student performance advice.
- Articulate and implement a Christian philosophy of education.
Student Relations
- Ensure positive and productive spiritual and educational development of students.
- Meet with students as needed to discuss their academic and behavioral progress.
- Oversee student discipline in accordance with policy.
Qualifications
Required Personal Qualities
- Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior.
- Be in agreement with Veritas Academy's Statements of Faith.
- Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and action.
- Be an active member of a Christ-centered church.
- Be spiritually mature and maintain a daily devotional life.
- Recognize the role of parents in their children's education.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish rapport and work well with others.
- Demonstrated ability to make thoughtful decisions.
- Ability to spiritually lead others.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proven ability to work with little supervision.
- Extensive knowledge of classical, Christian education.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree.
- 2+ years experience in a classical, Christian school.
- 5+ years of teaching experience with a proven track record.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's degree or higher in Education.
- 5+ years experience in a classical, Christian school.
Physical Demands
- Successfully complete CPR and first aid training every two years.
- Perform child restraint if necessary.
