The Vice President, Data Analytics represents a unique opportunity for a highly motivated professional to drive value creation initiatives for internal stakeholders, private equity funds, direct lenders and corporate clients. ResponsibilitiesWork directly with Portage Point team members and clients to identify and develop data analytics solutions across all practice lines.Lead, manage, implement and maintain client and internal data analytics workstreams.Design, build, launch, optimize and extend full-stack data and business intelligence solutions spanning extraction, storage, complex transformation and visualization.Serve as the primary point of contact for questions and escalations related to data architecture and solutions applicable to business problems or use cases.Develop big data and cloud-based applications to facilitate data analytics capabilities.Draft clear and compelling reports and data visualizations outlining key takeaways.Participate and lead management meetings.Assess the usefulness of new technologies and advocate for their adoption.Anticipate and identify risks within engagements and share any issues with senior members of the team.Share and manage best practices as well as lead internal trainings where required.Support talent acquisition and firm development efforts as needed.Contribute to creating a high-performing and inclusive culture.QualificationsBachelor's degree from a top undergraduate program.Located or willing to relocate to Chicago, Dallas or New York.Invested in a team-based culture that involves in office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as needed.Advanced skills in Power BI, Tableau, Tableau Prep, Dataiku and other visualization and BI platforms; ability to confidently construct a client facing dashboard related to financial analysis with minimal oversight.Three plus years of experience working as a data architect, data engineer and/or business intelligence engineer with advanced knowledge of data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, Google Big Query, SQL Server, Oracle, etc.), database management tools and programming languages and/or Microsoft specific languages (Python, SQL, DAX, Power Query M, VBA, etc.).Experience creating and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines that operate on a variety of sources such as APIs, FTP sites, databases including relational and semi-structured data.A broad appreciation of business processes, data structures, IT applications and infrastructure, IT processes, and governance and internal control principles.Quantitative reasoning skills including proficiency in statistics and mathematics.Working knowledge of descriptive/informative analytics, predictive analytics, prescriptive/decision making analytics, social media analytics, risk & control analytics, process analytics, operational analytics, financial modelling and risk scoring & modeling.Strong analytical skills, including experience with data cleaning, transformation and analysis.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical findings to non-technical audiences.Ability to successfully work in a small, collaborative team environment.High degree of maturity with a proven ability to interact with senior executives, private equity sponsors, lenders, lawyers, middle managers and line workers.Effectively communicates analysis through Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint including high-quality messaging, structure and formatting.Eagerness to be responsive at all times.Proven track-record of success in high pressure, time-constrained environments.Top-tier organizational skills and attention to detail.Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit.$145,000 - $190,000 a yearThe City of New York and the State of California require Portage Point to provide compensation information for this role. This range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum base + bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate.
