Job Description :

The Vice President of Warehouse Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of multi-site warehouse/distribution center operations (currently five) within the organization. This includes managing the overall strategy, planning, and execution of warehouse/distribution activities, developing and managing operating budgets, employee development, implementation and project management. The VP of Warehouse Operations collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction. They also provide leadership and guidance to warehouse/distribution center managers and staff, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and implementing best practices in warehouse management.

Job Functions

  • Develops strategy and directs operations to align with strategic goals ensuring efficiency and future growth for all US distribution services and warehouses, including industry specific 3PL services
  • Establishes and manages key KPIs, internal and external, that can be measured and monitored to determine success by setting goals, monitoring performance and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence in the warehouse/distribution centers
  • Develops short term and long range strategies, plans, and budgets based on corporate goals and growth objectives ensuring the profitability of operations through adherence to budgetary controls and management of the facilities
  • Leads and assists with continuous volume processing growth year after year, through innovative solutions delivered in a repeatable, scalable and cost-effective manner
  • Manages the overall operations budgets and guides individual warehouse site managers in managing their respective budgets within the budgetary constraints analyzing and reporting on variances between actual and budgeted expenditures
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems in alignment with the company's Technology strategy and automation roadmap to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials
  • Collaborates with the warehouse technology team in the development and delivery of core technologies
  • Leads the development and execution of an Operational Excellence methodology that drives continuous improvement through a scientific and structured approach
  • Develops and directs implementation of US warehousing/distribution centers, ongoing maintenance, capital planning, and related strategies
  • Drives collaboration between warehouse/distribution centers and ensures that best practices are implemented
  • Fosters a positive culture, recognizing, encouraging, coaching, mentoring and cultivating talent
  • Cultivates an engaged organization by guiding and supporting professional development, talent management, and labor relations
  • Develops and executes US warehouse/distribution centers capacity staffing and retention strategies
  • Responsible for the performance management of the warehouse/distribution centers leadership
  • Creates a culture of continuous quality improvement and maintains reporting of improvement actions
  • Partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement standards, processes, programs, and best practices related to risk management
  • Collaborates with the executive management team in the development and delivery of key operational strategies
  • Conducts research for business development opportunities and coordinates work plans to achieve growth
  • Coordinates with other members of senior management to develop policies and initiatives that align with all departments
  • Proactively manages quality and performance issues that impact customer satisfaction, identifying root causes and developing solution-based strategies that generate positive results
  • Follows through with safety and compliance measures and establishes procedures to improve organizational effectiveness within all warehouse/distribution centers operations
  • Regularly interacts and reviews with supply chain and sales team to plan and maximize delivery performance
  • Oversees the selection and performance of all operating supplies vendors and service providers

Skills

  • Exceptional knowledge of technology platforms to include WMS, ERP, Automation Controls and KPI reporting packages
  • Exceptional knowledge and experience with distribution services, and value-added services
  • Excellent strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions to drive organizational change
  • Exceptional understanding of budgeting and finance management, including financial assessment and asset management
  • Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Leadership: Provides clear direction and purpose while empowering employees to achieve objectives. Motivates, mentors, and develops employees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related business (i.e., Business Administration, logistics or related area)
  • 7-10 years Executive Experience with a strong understanding of business processes, risk management principles, and financial management
  • 7-10 years measurable experience in leadership with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • 7-10 years in Logistics, Distribution or Supply Chain Management
  • P&L Management
  • Experience with managing high SKU count warehouse/distribution center capable of storing and shipping products that are regulated (i.e., batteries, oil, tires, etc.)
  • Experience with implementing and leading Safety Management systems preferred
  • Experience with network optimization preferred
