Under the direction of the Provost, the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs (VPAA) oversees educational policy and academic programs, including program review and improvement.
Oversees Educational Policy and Academic Programs:
Designs and executes a comprehensive periodic review of academic programsEnsures quality of academic programsManages course offerings each semesterDevelops and implements new curriculum and programsOversees and directs the ongoing assessment of student learning across the institutionEnsures Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes is timely and continuous improvement decisions are data-drivenEnsures academic policies and procedures are in place and updated on a periodic cycleAddresses and resolves student complaintsEnsures successful programmatic accrediting annual reports, self-studies, site visits, etc.Faculty Oversight:
Oversees the Academic Council responsibilitiesMakes decisions about academic personnel, such as faculty appointments, promotions, etc.Ensures classes are adequately staffedOversees faculty advisingCompletes faculty and staff performance evaluationsEncourages and improves teaching and learning, including fostering the development of new teaching methods.Fiscal Responsibility:
Develops budgets for academic divisions and ensures fiscal accountability.
SCC Representation:
Provides regular status updates to the Executive Leadership Team, President's Cabinet, and the Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education as appropriateBeing active in institutional committeesAttends institutional and programmatic events (graduation, etc.)Oversees academic department activities (pinning ceremonies, open houses, etc.)Minimum Requirements:
