Position Function
The North American Spine Society is seeking an experienced and creative Video Production Specialist to advance the Society's online education and marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of technical expertise and creative vision, excelling in the production and development of both long- and short-form content while working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact educational and marketing materials. Key responsibilities include video production and post-production, live multi-camera production, and integrating video content into online education and social media platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Long Form Video Production
· Live-streaming and recording of in-person events and conferences.
· Film and edit video content for online courses as needed (e.g. surgical demos, faculty panels, webinars)
· Integrate video into a Learning Management System (LMS) and make creative suggestions to enhance learner experience
Short Form Video Production
· Edit recorded video & audio podcasts for distribution on YouTube & Spotify
· Yearly editing of series filmed at The NASS Annual Meeting
· Assist with production of tutorials and training materials for staff
· Create promotional videos for upcoming events, including setting up shoots and post-production editing. Some storyboarding may be necessary.
· Take long form learning content and distill it down to short form options for posting on social media, eLearning modules, and marketing communications.
Administrative Tasks
· Manage digital media catalogs
· Stay updated on emerging technologies, medical advancements, and industry trends to enhance NASS's educational offerings.
· Maintain inventory of equipment, software licenses, and production assets, and coordinate repairs or upgrades as needed.
· Assist in budget planning and cost estimation for projects and productions.
· Develop, document, and maintain system standards for equipment and devices
· Ensure accessibility and usability of video content for diverse learners.
· Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of content and recommend improvements.
Skills neededEssential Skills
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners (volunteers, industry).
· Proficient in a wide range of broadcast, prosumer & consumer video hardware, software, & systems as listed below.
o Blackmagic, Audio-technica, Sony strongly preferred
o NLE, audio & compositing software (Adobe Preferred)
o Video Editing Software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
o Video conferencing software and how to use in production scenarios (e.g. Zoom & Microsoft Teams)
o Animation and motion graphics tools (e.g. Adobe After Effects)
o Microsoft and MAC Operating Systems
o Microsoft and Adobe Office Suites
· Ability to work on multiple projects with a variety of stakeholders simultaneously, often with overlapping deadlines.
· Willingness to innovate, learn and adapt as projects are developed.
· Comfortable with different video and audio file types, codecs and containers
· Experience with streaming events to platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo & others
Bonus Skills
· Knowledge of HTML5, SCORM, or xAPI for LMS integration.
· Familiarity with online education authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and LMS platforms
· Development of short form promotional content for social media (e.g. TikTok, Reels)
Education & Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Media Production, Instructional Design or a related field.
· Proven experience (3-5 years) in video production, including filming, editing, and sound design.
· Experience working with surgical and medical related topics and footage a plus.
· Commitment to upholding NASS's values of integrity, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Travel
· Travel approximately 1 - 3 times per year
Job Conditions
Flexible, hybrid or remote work arrangements offered; proximity to southwest suburbs of Chicago area required. Small, fast paced team environment with collaboration across multiple departments- working closest with Education, Marketing and Information Technology. Normal sitting and standing activities for an office/remote office environment. Occasional evening/weekend hours needed for production. Exposure to glare/eyestrain from computer screen. Utilize office equipment and communication technologies for conference calls and teleconference meetings/webinars.
