Visitor Services Associate at Morven Museum in Princeton, NJ
Part-Time Hourly, some nights and weekends

Salary: $17.25 per hour
Reports to: Operations Supervisor
The Visitor Services Associate (VSA) is responsible for providing excellent security and customer service to all visitors.

Security Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe and pleasant environment for all visitors/staff.
- Ensure that the policies and procedures designed to protect Morven, its collections, property, staff, volunteers, contractors, and visitors are followed properly.
- Respond to emergency situations.
- Maintain the museum and its grounds in a presentable manner.
Visitor/Customer Service Responsibilities:
- Welcome and assist visitors, ensuring they enjoy their experience at Morven.
Museum Shop Responsibilities:
The VSA will welcome guests visiting Morven Museum & Garden, making a good first impression. Responsibilities include:
- Welcoming guests and selling admission tickets, group tour reservations, and retail items.
- Managing the register, handling refunds, and counting money before and after shifts.
- Coordinating with the Gift Shop Manager to price and replenish stock.
- Answering the phone, providing directions, taking messages, and connecting callers to appropriate staff members.
- Staying updated on programs and museum activities to share with visitors and facilitate group tour requests.
Private Event Responsibilities:
Visitor Services Associates are required to work one third of all private events scheduled, in addition to in-house Morven events and special programs as needed. Responsibilities include:
- Communicating with Morven's Private Events Manager and the event host in the lead-up to the event.
Additional Duties:
- Assist with data entry and other tasks as needed.
- Assist with upkeep of Morven's online shop and sales.
Requirements:
- Strong retail or customer service experience.
- Point of Sale computer experience.
- Background check required.
- Ability to maintain professional composure at all times.
- Must be in good physical and mental health, able to remain standing for at least 60 minutes, lift 50 lbs., and navigate in cramped and narrow spaces in emergencies.
- Must have own vehicle or reliable form of transportation.
- Availability to work weekends, designated holidays, extended hours, and off-hours private events (nights).
- Flexibility with scheduling and ability to change plans on short notice.
- Ability to function effectively as part of a close-knit team as well as independently.
- High School diploma or GED required (college degree strongly preferred).
- Reliable communication (cell phone & email) required.
- Must be a team player: adaptable, dependable, trustworthy, confidential, and personable.
- 2+ years of security or customer service experience strongly preferred.
