York County Community Action Corp. YCCAC is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to alleviate the effects of poverty, attack its underlying causes and to promote the dignity and self-sufficiency of the people of York County, Maine. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Site Coordinator Non-Exempt; Temporary The VITA Site Coordinator implements and oversees the organization's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program Preparation. Promotes financial capability skill-building with YCCAC staff, clients and other provider agency staff. The VITA Site Coordinator:
- Oversees and manages the free tax preparation activities in advance of and during and the tax season.
- Trains and supervises VITA support staff and volunteers; manages budget and work plan for VITA-supported program.
- Completes approved Site Coordinator Training.
- Becomes familiar with IRS quality standards and ensures they are followed.
- Interviews potential volunteer tax preparers and also may include CA$H Coaches; trains coaches for pretax prep asset building opportunity talks; refers tax prep volunteers to intensive training as needed.
- Provides training for all VITA tax preparers.
- Monitors site to ensure quality review is being conducted, privacy is being maintained and the Site Identification Number is being annotated on each return.
- Ensures all tax returns are transmitted in a timely manner and follow up on returns that may have issues.
Qualifications include:
- Associate's Degree, experience may be substituted.
- Prior tax preparation experience preferred.
- Experience and interest in the financial capability preferred.
- Experience in developing and/or managing a robust volunteer program; community organizing experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate a project.
- Organizational and leadership/management skills.
- Must be competent in use of computer and programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must have reliable means of transportation for travel in York County, as well as occasional longer distances.
