The Prince William County Office of Youth Services has a staff of over 100 who serve the community through residential, diversion and prevention services. The incumbent will be responsible for designing and implementing Agency-wide volunteer programs. This crucial role involves identifying the needs of the program participants and recruiting volunteers that meet those needs. The person in this role will also be responsible for training volunteers and managing their performance.
In addition, the incumbent will also be responsible for organizing public awareness campaigns. This could involve giving presentations or creating informational materials to educate the public about the program. Overall, the incumbent plays a pivotal role in enhancing the skills of the program participants and promoting the organization's cause to the public. This role requires a strong understanding of educational methodologies, excellent communication skills, and a passion for the cause that the organization supports.
Must be able to work independently with strong work ethic. Some evenings and weekends may be required. This is a full-time position that is eligible to participate in full employee benefits.
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years experience in recruiting and coordinating volunteers, designing and implementing large volunteer programs or events.
Preferences: Four or more years of proven experience in volunteer recruitment, training and management. Ability to develop and deliver presentations to local agencies, community partners, organizations on volunteering. Ability to clearly communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other team members and community partners. Ability to manage work independently with limited supervision. Ability to clearly communicate both orally and in writing.
Special Requirements: The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background check. Must be available to operate a county vehicle.
Work Schedule: This position's work week consists of a 37.5-hour workweek. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. There will be a combination of in-office and remote work involved.
