Job Overview:
  • Schedule: 35 hours per week
  • Type: Regular, Full Time
  • Pay: $40,040 - 50,000 annualized salary based on experience
  • Location: Fully onsite in the Lower East Side
Job Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator will spearhead a NEW 1-year pilot program, connecting volunteers with older adults requiring supportive, individualized services. This role will empower older adults with special needs to maintain their dignity and independence and live independentlyQualifications:
  • Associate's degree or higher
  • At least 1 year of experience in volunteer coordination or a related field
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with community outreach and engagement
  • Knowledge of NYC based social service agencies and resources
  • Familiarity with disability and cultural competency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer recruitment and retention strategy
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of at least 50 volunteers throughout the 5 NYC boroughs
  • Foster partnerships with NYC 5 borough older adult organizations and services
  • Conduct outreach and promote the program
  • Coordinate volunteer placements and match volunteers with clients based on needs, scheduling, demographics, etc.
  • Track and analyze volunteer and client data, including demographics, intakes, referrals, and survey responses
  • Coordinate with other Henry Street Settlement (HSS) departments and divisions
  • Maintain hard copy and electronic volunteer records: program applications, care plans, letters of agreement, annual appraisal, annual income review
  • Create and facilitate client connections with nutrition-based programs and services in the 5 NYC boroughs
  • In conjunction with other SCP staff, develop training programs and materials
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Program Director
Essential Physical Job Functions:
  • Able to travel within the five boroughs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to work with two sites
  • Able to walk up several flights of stairs throughout the day
