If your interest has been piqued, this rewarding and impactful opportunity is for you!*****The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator works on-site at our distribution center location in Auburn, ME *****Your Role in Our Mission:Good Shepherd Food Bank's Volunteer Engagement Team works to increase community engagement and reach by cultivating vibrant and sustainable relationships with individuals, corporate teams, and community partners. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment, screening, placement, and recognition of volunteers, with a strong focus on identifying, organizing, planning, and facilitating meaningful volunteer experiences. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and engaging volunteers, database management and reporting, and administrative support.Recipe for SuccessTo succeed in this role, you possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills to partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Your ability to learn new technology will shine as you become an expert user of Galaxy Digital, our volunteer management database. Your ability to solve problems quickly and effectively will be displayed daily as you coordinate the logistics of volunteer activities. Your curiosity, desire to learn, and passion for helping others will build a stronger community.Milestones of Success:In the first 30 days, you willMeet all the department leaders and participate in onboarding activities.Learn to use collaborative work tools in Microsoft Teams.Greet, educate, and orient volunteers to the Food Bank's mission and work.Begin learning the volunteer management software program Galaxy Digital.In the first 90 days, you willReview all GSFB employee policies and participate in new hire training.Become familiar with our volunteer handbook and standard operating procedures.Understand how to navigate and use Galaxy Digital, our volunteer relationship management database.In the first 6 months, you willDevelop and contribute content to volunteer communications, including social media and blog posts.Support Volunteer appreciation event coordination and planning.RequirementsThe experience you possess that supports success in this role:2+ years of experience in volunteer or community engagement, hospitality, or related field.2+ years of experience using volunteer or customer relationship databases.Computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office products, especially Outlook and Word.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.The knowledge, skills, and abilities you possess that supports success in this role:Workflow Coordination : Ability to work backward from set goals, identify dependencies, and draw from a diverse set of tools and approaches to manage progress and adapt when circumstances change.Adaptable:Flexible, patient, positive attitude, and the ability to adapt to changes, a tendency to regard challenges as opportunities, and a recognition of one's own limits.Execution : A strong sense of urgency and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders to drive towards milestones.
