Under the limited direction of the EVP & Chief Operations Officer and in partnership with the Senior Vice President, Organizational Development the Vice President, Affiliate Relations is responsible for managing and guiding affiliate relations while creating positive solutions that support the overall direction of the Movement.
The VP, Affiliate Relations will develop the organization's affiliate relationship strategy including creating new and redirecting organizational strategies that may have an adverse impact on the national-local partnership The VP of Affiliate Relations liaises with other members of the national senior leadership team to ensure affiliate relations is the organization's priority.
The VP, Affiliate Relations also has the direct responsibility, in partnership with other Field Operations leaders, in designing, executing and evaluating the annual National Conference, the Movement's premier event that honors the local-national partnership.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Organizational Priorities & Initiatives
* Galvanize the Boys & Girls Club Movement to affirm and activate membership requirements and other initiatives designed to strengthen the Movement.
* Lead the process, including establishing a review committee, to regularly review and potentially add to or revise the Movement's membership requirements every 3 years.
* Work cross functionally to maximize Affiliate satisfaction via the annual Club partnership survey
* Actively monitor and if needed, redirect national initiatives that could negatively impact the local-national partnership
National Conference
* Design, lead and execute the annual National Conference ensuring an exceptional experience for Club leaders, Board members, youth, investors and other key stakeholders.
* Establish and meet annual KPIs
* Recruit, select and onboard the national conference planning committee and internal committee of national staff who partner on execution
* Serve as the conference producer who has the ultimate authority on all business decisions as it relates to the design and execution of the National Conference
Problem Solving
* Serve as the staff lead to major transformational change efforts that have the ability to negatively impact the local-national partnership
* Isolate, triage and produce positive solutions to situations that impact a single organization or stakeholder as well as those that are more complex and involve multiple organizations and or stakeholders
* Bring about resolution of contentious dynamics among member organizations as assigned
Measures & Business Analytics
* Develop, implement and share mechanisms to accurately understand real time statuses of current sentiments on new issues or initiatives that may be controversial
* Regularly benchmark organizations or businesses that have deployed strategies that have tested relationships and remained local but drove better individual and collective results (i.e., City Year, Cities in Schools, American Red Cross, etc.)
* Partner with the SVP, Strategy to ensure a balance of operational metrics against affiliate relations metrics (i.e., ability to absorb, impact on time and resources, perceived value, etc.)
Membership Governance & Compliance
* Partner with Organizational Development, Child Safety & Quality Assurance & Legal
* Directly manage the strategy to mitigate compliance issues that threaten the organizations ability to maintain a positive relationship with a member organization (s)
* Staff and provide ongoing direction to the Membership Governance Committee and the Membership Governance Advisory Committee.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
* Minimum of ten years overall experience with a minimum of five years in the management, administration and operation of a Boys & Girls Club (or similar organization) and at least five years in a leadership role with BGCA.
* Demonstrated successful experience with board development and management, resource development, and supervising and developing staff.
SKILLS
* Possesses a deep expertise in consulting and facilitative leadership, with a proven ability to diagnose and develop organizations effectively.
* Skilled in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, along with team building, negotiation, and consensus building.
* Demonstrates strong organizational and time management capabilities, excels in budget planning, analysis, and facility management, and brings a strategic approach to data analysis, marketing, and communications.
* Experienced in managing multiple projects in fast-paced environments, maintaining high ethical standards and integrity throughout.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet research, and web-based applications, with the ability to efficiently use technology and applications remotely, including while traveling
ABILITIES
* High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to day activities, good reasoning abilities, sound judgment and the ability to work under time pressures.
* Travel estimated at 40 - 50% (can be up to 8 to 10 days or more in a given month, including weekends - depending upon scheduling requirements).
