Job Description : Key Responsibilities The VP Operations for Methodist Health System will report to the President/COO of Methodist Health System and will be responsible for the Planning, development and opening of the new Methodist Celina Medical Center as well as overseeing several Corporate functions (System Laboratory, System Facilities Management) and managing projects at a System level.
Primary Functions - Leads with senior management oversite in the development of a strategic plan, both short and long-term for the new Methodist Celina Medical Center.
- Develops a sound business plan for the hospital including the development of programs, facilities, operating efficiencies and physician resources designed to achieve annual and long-term growth strategies.
- Works with Corporate construction on the design of the facility and oversees the build, ensuring an efficient physical design that is asthetically attractive.
- Develops a master plan for the campus that considers growth for a hospital of 300-350 beds ultimately.
- Manages the system laboratory function.
- Functions as the System liaison to the DeSoto SNF and assesses whether that structure can be duplicated in other parts of the metroplex.
- Participates on System-level committees as assigned by the President/COO.
- Leads the negotiations of system-level contracts as assigned by the President/COO.
- Participates in other System-wide growth initiatives, including mergers/acquisitions.
- Maintains professional growth and development.
- Attends and serves on professional and civic organizations as the hospital's representative and with the purpose of advancing the profile Methodist Health System in the Metroplex.
- Communicates openly and effectively internally and externally with a wide variety of individuals to ensure that their needs are being met and the reputation of the system is enhanced.
- Communicates and reinforces a vision for the System that is consistent with MHS' mission and emphasizes distinguished quality, customer service safety, operational excellence, innovation and financial performance.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS Possesses the following:
- At least 5 years of operational experience in healthcare.
- Masters degree in Business or Healthcare Administration required.
- Demonstrated success in achieving objectives within a multi-organizational healthcare system.
- Demonstrated experience providing effective leadership in a competitive market.
- A demonstrated track record as an effective leader in hospitals or healthcare systems with a demonstrated ability to improve the organization's overall performance.
- Demonstrated success in aligning various stakeholders' needs and expectations and leading through a style of negotiation that results in win-win solutions .
- Demonstrated ability to enhance internal and external relationships, service, quality, operational, and financial performance and to contribute to enhancement of the overall culture of an organization.
- Demonstrated experience in thinking out of the box and improving performance and crating opportunities.
- Demonstrated synergistic leadership with physician staff.
- Excellent relationship skills, particularly with physicians.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver financial and operational plans.
- Demonstrated ability to align varied stakeholders' interests into synergistic performance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through inspiration and influence.
- Current or previous knowledge of the North Texas Healthcare Market is a plus.
- A track record of achievement, with a solid understanding of the complex issues facing a complex healthcare system.
- Ability to balance the needs of the hospital with the needs of the System.
- Experience creating and maintaining an atmosphere of trust and support among employees at all levels of the organization.
- A track record demonstrating continuous improvement in employee and physician satisfaction.
- Demonstrated ability to plan for and manage change and growth of facilities and services.
