JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor and Lead Person, the Case and Layer Picker operates a forklift and loads and unloads trucks to perform the shipping or receiving functions of finished goods or raw materials, maintains prescribed stock rotation requirements; and sorts empty pallets and hand stack cases of product. JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Note: These job functions relate to the job, not the individual.)
- Understand, follow, and enforce all established safety, health, quality, Food Safety, GMP and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
- Know the purpose and follow proper operation of all safety switches, interlocks and safety devices.
- Maintain work area to acceptable safety and housekeeping standards.
- Responsible for building of product orders from pick tickets on pallets by hand picking cases
- Operate a forklift truck to load or unload inbound and outbound product to and from semi-trucks.
- Monitor the quality of products or raw materials which are being shipped or received.
- Transport materials within the warehouse, and stack and unstack materials
- Sort empty pallets and shells.
- Operate stretch wrap machines, as required.
- Substitute for other employees, in other classifications, when needed.
- Label and tag all full good pallets, record placement of full goods in warehouse.
- Read, decode, and decipher product coding in order to either build orders and/or expedite product movement.
- Follow escalation protocol in a timely manner when troubleshooting efforts fail. Work closely with maintenance when escalation to maintenance support is needed for a mechanical issue
- Complete and file all required documentation in an orderly and timely manner.
- Notify leads and supervisors of any major problems or questions, including Quality or Food Safety concerns.
- Communicate processing information to designated personnel on incoming shift.
- Ensure work area meets 5S guidelines.
- Perform any other job-related duties requested by the Supervisor or Lead.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent education.
- Minimum of 2 years p revious experience in a fast-paced manufacturing warehouse e nvironment.
- Able to read, write, and communicate in English. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Must exhibit ability and desire to work within a team but have the ability to work alone.
- Works with minimal supervision, be a self-starter who leads by example, and be dependable.
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities under pressure.
- Must be able to drive a forklift and have the ability to pass the test for Forklift Operators License.
- Requires ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb on a forklift.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to work in temperatures of 80 degrees or more.
- Must be able to work overtime, during peak production periods.
- Must exhibit flexibility and willingness to perform tasks as needed.
- Must meet Pre-employment Drug Screening Requirements and background check.
