Position Summary

National 4-H Council (Council) seeks a dynamic Warehouse Inventory Coordinator that is highly motivated and analytical. This role will be responsible for coordinating Council's curriculum and general merchandise inventory, maintaining good vendor relationships and assisting with the product development processes. Additionally, the Coordinator will assist in the planning and execution of marketing promotions and supports the warehouse team by picking and packing orders, helping with inventory counts, general warehouse maintenance tasks and other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate and efficient inventory for both the curriculum and general merchandise.

Responsibilities

General Merchandise Inventory Management Duties

  • Develop and create standardized product descriptions formats for the website; update product descriptions based on new format and create new product listings as needed.
  • Manage the general merchandise product development and sourcing process to enhance available selection and ensure relevance.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory trends to recommend strategic business decisions to drive results such as price changes, discontinued items, and promotions.
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with Council vendor policies. Collaborate with vendors to develop custom items as needed and manage Council and industry requests for special orders, customized products, events, and so forth.
  • Place re-orders and follow up on any service or quality concerns.
  • Reconfigure bins for new and top-selling items

Curriculum and Educational Kits Inventory Management Duties

  • Manage curriculum and educational kits product descriptions on the website, including creating a standardized product descriptions format; update current product descriptions based on new format, and create new product listings as new content is developed (includes digital downloads).
  • Maintain inventory of printed copies of curriculum.
  • Maintain curriculum inventory and ordering spreadsheets, recommend and approve inventory re-orders. Update pricing when re-orders result in cost increase.
  • Assist with product development and sourcing for new curriculum and educational kits to enhance current selection and ensure relevance.
  • Periodically review curriculum product offers and provide suggestions on types of products/offers to discontinue, add, and/or revisit.
  • Use replenishment module to transfer merchandise from Minnesota to the Chicago warehouse.

Merchandise Marketing Duties

  • In collaboration with the Director of eCommerce Operations, actively participate in the development of the Supply team's product marketing plan.
  • Provide marketing campaign insight and support for to ensure margins and inventory levels support proposed promotions.
  • Provide new product sourcing updates to Shop 4-H and appropriate staff.
  • Ensure the Curriculum product descriptions and resources page is up to date.
  • Assist in planning and execution of promotional events. Manage assigned curriculum sales tasks.

Warehouse Support

  • Order all facility supplies.
  • Help coordinate the annual physical inventory process for the Chicago warehouse and coordinating with Minnesota for an annual inventory.
  • Assist as required in the pick, packing and shipment of orders, receiving of shipments and picking up and processing returns.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in product management or similar role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Shopify preferred or a similar software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work efficiently under deadlines and manage several assignments simultaneously.
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Professionalism to work across various stakeholders including cross-functionally and with consultants and vendors.
  • Demonstrated creativity, problem-solving and analytical ability.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.

Travel Requirements: Travel may be necessary, up to 10% of the time (local, regional, national). Would require travel by air, car, rail.

  • Must utilize necessary math skills to calculate formulas, commissions, discounts, and so forth.
  • Use of arms, legs, hands, eyes, hearing for general maintenance and inventory stocking tasks.
  • This position works both inside and outside, in varying temperatures.
  • Requires fine and gross motor skills for working in a warehouse environment, in moderate-varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to climb ladders to stock supplies and drive a forklift.
