The Warehouse Operations Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the receiving, picking, internal distribution, storage, security, maintenance, sanitation, shipping teams, and administrative functions. The Warehouse Operations Manager will ensure the seamless operation of warehouse activities, maintaining high standards of efficiency, accuracy, and safety. Key Responsibilities of this Role
- Oversee the receiving team to ensure efficient unloading, inspection, and documentation of incoming shipments.
- Oversee the internal distribution team to ensure timely and accurate transfer of goods within the warehouse.
- Oversee the shipping team to ensure orders are correctly packaged, labeled, and dispatched.
- Implementing operational policies and procedures.
- Ensuring all activities are captured in the ERP system, identifying discrepancies and highlighting to the leadership team.
- Implementing and overseeing security operations.
- Ensuring effective and safe use of warehouse equipment.
- Foster a positive work environment and ensure team adherence to safety protocols.
- Lead and manage warehouse staff, including hiring, training, scheduling and disciplining.
- Maintaining documentation and keeping accurate records of warehouse activities.
- Maintaining awareness and knowledge of the condition and location of fleet vehicles.
- Assisting with deliveries where required.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels and conduct regular audits.
- Continuously analyze and enhance receiving processes to reduce errors, delays, and costs.
- Continuously evaluate and improve shipping processes to reduce costs and transit times.
- Continuously review and enhance picking and packing methods to reduce errors and increase productivity.
- Track and report on the internal distribution performance to identify areas for improvement.
Experience and Skills Required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse management or a related field.
- Proven track record of managing warehouse operations, including inventory control, logistics, and supply chain management.
- Proficient knowledge of inventory and inventory controls using an ERP system, preference in SAP B1
- Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising a team, with strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent understanding of warehouse management procedures.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory software.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to handle unexpected issues and improve operational efficiency.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ability to operate forklift effectively and lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Available to work extended hours as needed.
- CPIM/CSCP certification a plus
