This role: The Warehouse Specialist is a member of the Warehousing Team and reports directly to the Warehouse Shipping Supervisor. This position is responsible for supporting all activities of the shipping warehouse. This includes material deployment, including operations in the shipping warehouse, and as needed: offsite shipping (other warehouses), and truck driving/transport between all Bloomington locations. This includes ensuring material availability to maintain schedule adherence, material transfer, picking of material, transport of material, inventory accuracy and appropriate management of dock and storage areas starting at receipt until final product shipment. Activities include conformance to Good Documentation Practices (GDPs), supporting warehouse cGMP compliance, working on powered industrial vehicles (PIV's), and driving, loading/unloading Work-in-Process (WIP). Finished Goods (FG), and Raw Materials (RM) between the Simtra locations. This is full time, 5 days a week/40 hours position. Weekend hours could be required based on business needs. The Responsibilities (Shipping)

  • Acts as main shipper for specific assigned clients.
  • Champion Safety, 6S, EMS and other programs as requested by Sr. Management.
  • Subject matter expert in shipping procedures, specifically hazardous material shipping requirements.
  • Update and maintain shipping procedures and SOPs
  • Support to endure warehouse is maintained per requirements: cGMP, OSHA, Simtra CQP/SOP, EHS
  • Client liaison/SME for new and existing procedures.
  • Serialization Subject Matter Expert for shipping activities.
  • Develop and implement new client shipping procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Serves as a contact for internal departments regarding shipping issues, questions, and requests.
  • Shipping of hazardous materials both domestic and international
  • Creates, maintains, and updates department shipping methods.
  • Can perform all aspects of warehouse activities (cycle counting, PIT operation, chamber alarm response, chart management, 6S)
  • Supports continuous improvement of all warehouse activities.
  • Meets warehouse operational standards by contributing warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying warehouse system improvements.
  • Trained as driver to support resource gaps as needed.
  • Maintains inventory and ensures inventory accuracy through performance and reconciliation of physical/cycle counts.
The work environment / Safety Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, and lift to support packing and warehouse activities.
  • Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends.
  • Use of hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment is required.
  • Position may require sitting or standing for long hours.
  • Position may require use of PIT equipment for long hours.
  • Must be able to work in various temps up to -65 to -85 Celsius.
Desirable qualifications:
    • High school diploma or GED required, Associates degree preferred.
    • Minimum 1 years of warehouse/logistics or manufacturing experience required.
    • Must be able to operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
    • Must be able to obtain Hazardous Materials certification. DOT and IATA.
    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to use enterprise software (examples include: JDE / Dynamics 365, BPLM, OneSource, Track wise, etc.)
    • Weekend/Overtime as required.
    • Must be able to obtain a 'for hire' driver's license endorsement and/or appropriate license needed to legally operate a box/straight truck.
