Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the timely shipment of all finished products to Berry's customers in the most judicious and cost effective manner; also is responsible for inbound shipments of the raw materials, selection of carriers for shipments and negotiation of freight rates favorable to Berry. Day to day warehouse operations including shipping, receiving and packing of finished goods, raw materials and all inbound and outbound shipments. Assures ship to promise dates are met through collaboration with customer care, sales, logistics and production team. In addition, this individual is responsible for work safety and good manufacturing practices in their department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Observe all safety precautions, food safety requirements, and plant safety rules to prevent injury to self or others and to prevent loss of material or damage to equipment Safely transport, store and retrieve all product / raw materials to and from the warehouse. Load outbound freight using warehouse management system. Unload inbound freight and deliver to designated areas. Keep warehouse area neat, clean and free of debris, complete and perform cleaning and sanitation Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed. Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable law. Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks Lead all required meetings with safety (I.e. Pre-Shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc..) Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible. Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals 13.Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed. Maintains accurate shipping and receiving records, ensuring material handlers are staging material in FIFO order. Qualifications RESPONSIBILITIES: Sort and segregate ship tickets, assign shipment routings, contact trucking companies to make sure customer shipments go out on time. Provide necessary export documentation and QA documents for required shipments. Insure attendance and employee time worked is kept properly with documentation. Provide shipment information to needed parties. Responsible for 5S of office and sample operations area. Responsible for safety of employees with zero accidents. Work on special projects and teams as needed to insure continuous improvement. Printing and processing of all customer shipments with on time shipments that is in the Distribution Centers control. Provide correct documentation for all shipments. Make sure direct reports are shipping orders on a first in first out basis. Communicate with customer service, sales and logistics on a daily basis to ensure that the Riverhead facility is on target to make monthly shipment dollars if orders are available. Maintain daily employee time processing and attendance reports. Verify employee hours, attendance and vacation. Responsible for Sample area making sure 5s is maintained and samples are shipped to customers in a timely manner Ensure area is clean of debris, complete and perform cleaning and sanitation Back up for warehouse manager. QUALIFICATIONS: Capable of physical mobility including sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and lifting, capable to lift to 50 lbs. Capable of operating PITs to load and unload trucks as needed. 5 or more years Warehouse experience preferred. High school diploma or GED equivalency. Strong computer skills, capable of utilizing Berry's operating and support systems (JDE, QSI, etc.). Good interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Past experience / proven ability within the specified disciplines. Capable of operating a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) in a safe and cautious manner. Must pass the PIT operator test and obtain a valid Berry PIT license.
