Job Description :

River Valley, a growing specialty foods and consumable products distributor in Syracuse, NY, is searching for full time First Shift Warehouse Team Lead. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA. The Warehouse Team Lead is responsible to coach, train employees and present themselves in a positive manner while leading by example and maintaining a safe and positive work environment. The Team Lead reports to the Supervisor on duty. Wages:

  • Starting at $24.00 per hour
Schedule:
  • 4:45am - 3:45pm Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Friday
Essential Responsibilities
  • Arrive prior to employees' shift allowing Team Lead to obtain and discuss day's work schedule with Supervisor
    • Allocate orders
    • Input letdowns
  • Conduct a shift startup meeting with employees
  • Safety, SQF topic and any other need to know information
  • Take attendance
  • Lead group stretch
  • Perform a pre-operation inspection of any equipment being used
  • Walk aisles throughout shift
    • Monitor employees' behavior
    • Reinforce safe work habits
    • Check for damaged racking or product
  • Make sure employees are transporting product in a manner that ensures stability throughout the distribution process
  • Train new employees
  • Coach employees for success
  • Delegate job assignments
    • Move employees to the work
    • Ensure employees are staying productive
  • Complete daily reports
    • Pre-op sheets
    • Cooler temp logs
    • Shift lead's daily planner
    • Shift recap
  • Ensure warehouse is clean
    • No empty pallets in bays
    • Trash and cardboard picked up
    • Damages and yellow bins are brought to Damage Returns
    • Equipment is put away and placed on charge
  • Follow company and SQF guidelines when handling products, including the handling of damaged cases discovered in the warehouse
  • Operate all equipment in a safe manner at all times

Education and Experience
  • Associate degree or higher preferred but not required
  • 3 or more years of warehouse experience preferred but not required
