Position Summary

National 4-H Council seeks a team-oriented Warehouse Worker that is highly motivated and detailed. This position will be responsible for the picking and packing of customer orders, replenishment of the bins, unloading and loading trucks as needed, and maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly warehouse environment. This role will report directly to the Warehouse Manager.

Responsibilities

Order Picking

  • Fill customer orders for staging in packing area.
  • Communicate manual backorder information.

Order Packing

  • Assess order to determine size of carton or other packaging needed for the shipment.
  • Verifying items picked match picketing ticket and communicating variations.
  • Packing of merchandise to limit the amount of damage or breakage of goods.
  • Determine method of shipping based on weight and knowledge of carriers and rates.
  • Affixing proper labels and other needed markings required by carrier to ensure fast and accurate delivery of package.

Receiving

  • Unloading inbound shipments from UPS, USPS, FedEx, and Common Carriers.
  • Examination of all cartons before acceptance of goods.
  • Open and unpack cartons, checking packing slip against items received.
  • Inspecting for quality control purposes a sample of goods based on amount of goods received.
  • Complete proper documentation for data entry purposes.

Team Contributions

  • Back-stop the Warehouse Manager as needed.
  • Assist in the set-up of new items and movement of merchandise throughout the warehouse.
  • Monitor stock on discontinued items for inventory control and website updates.
  • Provide maintenance of the warehouse facility including janitorial and waste disposal tasks.
  • Count and bag items to increase the speed in which future orders can be picked, packaged, and shipped.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent in work experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a supply chain/warehouse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred experience with Worldship, Shopify or similar programs.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain attention to detail.
  • The ability to drive a forklift is a plus.

Travel Requirements: Travel may be necessary up to 10% of the time (local, regional, national). Would require travel by air, car, or rail.

  • Role routinely uses heavy equipment in the performance of the job, requiring lifting, pulling, pushing, digging, lifting 50 pounds or more.
  • Use of arms, legs, hands, eyes, hearing for general maintenance, and inventory stocking tasks. Position works both inside and outside, in varying temperatures.
  • Requires fine and gross motor skills for working in a warehouse environment, in moderate-varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to climb ladders to stock supplies
