Salary: $17.70 - $20.82 Hourly Location : Governmental Complex Downtown, Cheyenne Job Type: Full Time Job Number: 2024-00067 Department: Sheriff's Department Opening Date: 10/22/2024 Hiring Range: $17.70 - $20.82 Hourly Full Salary Range: $17.70 - $ 22.79 Hourly Summary Under direct and general supervision, performs a wide variety of administrative duties towards the processing and completion of criminal warrants, NCIC procedures, and law enforcement documents for the Sheriff's Department, according to precise policies and procedures.   • Updates criminal warrants and record tracking systems according to department, state, and federal policy and procedures.
  • Creates and maintains felony and misdemeanor warrant files; monthly validations of information according to policy and procedures.
  • Research files and computer databases for criminal histories as authorized.
  • Checks nationwide and state warrants for validity and accuracy of information; collects, records, files, and distributes related paperwork.
  • Monitors NCIC for Hit Confirmation requests on all NCIC entries. Requests and executes Hit Confirmations for the department and when needed.
  • Processes arrest warrants; enters information into the computer system, creates files, and enters data into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer system; removes dismissedquashed warrants from the system as directed.
  • Enters orders of protection, missing persons, and stolen items (i.e. guns, vehicles, and plates) into NCIC under proper guidelines.
  • Monitors NCIC database for local and regional Attempts to Locate (ATL) information requests, training, and other pertinent NCIC correspondence.
  • Updates and maintains criminal records files for NCIC and Wyoming Warrants; researches files and computer databases as necessary.
  • Receives records requests and sends information to law enforcement officers as well as other agencies and jurisdictions as approved.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
QualificationsKnowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of County policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic functions, procedures, and policies of the Sheriff's Department.
  • Knowledge of basic laws and regulations governing the release of information from law enforcement agency records.
  • Knowledge of access procedures for the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), CJIS, and National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS).
  • Knowledge of the principles of record keeping and records management.
  • Skill in dimensional multi-tasking, organization, proofreading, and decision-making.
  • Skill in public relations and customer service.
  • Skill in reviewing documents for accuracy and extracting relevant information.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
  • Skill in efficiently typing for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the division, public officials, outside agencies, County staff, and the general public.
Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent, AND two year of law enforcement records processing experience, preferably in Laramie County; OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
