The Waste Coordinator manages project waste for Clients at the Regional offices without taking title for the material. This role is frequently involved in time-sensitive activities and requires strong organizing, planning, time-management, and multi-tasking skills. This Position has Travel of approx 30% to locations in Chicago, Evansville, Milwaukee and Minneapolis and Indianapolis.Essential Functions
- Prepare and submit waste profiles ensuring that profiles are complete and accurate.
- Obtain competitive disposal pricing from a variety of disposal facilities.
- Assist in the preparation and review of manifests.
- Review analytical data to determine waste classification.
- Educate Clients to facilitate the timely movement of waste from their sites to the selected disposal facilities.
- Resolve manifest and non-conforming load discrepancies.
- Prepare and ship samples and review chains of custody for accuracy.
- Conduct facility inspections.
- Responsible for the management and weekly inspection of the 10-day transfer area for each office.
- Maintain a 10-day transfer area log to ensure all hazardous waste leaves the facility within 10 days of receipt.
- Build relationships with local hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste disposal facilities and become familiar with their waste handling capabilities and profiling process.
- Provide technical assistance to other offices.
- Provide for the response, management, and supervision of projects as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Flexible to changes in the work schedule/extended workdays and be available to respond on short notice. Available to travel out of town for overnight projects on short notice.
- Willingness to follow and enforce governmental regulatory procedures, industry practices, and have a strong understanding and willingness to follow and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to pass pre-employment, random and or post-accident/injury substance abuse screening and obtain applicable medical examiners certification.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation required
- Pass a Pre-Employment Physical, Drug Screen and Alcohol testing
- Pass a Pre-Employment Background Screening
- Pass the Company's Auto Insurance Qualifiers
- Ability to pass the OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Able to read, write, and understand the English language, and able to follow verbal and written instructions
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Science Related Field (Environmental Science/Chemistry/Biology). Or 4+ years relative experience (or combination of education and experience)
- Must have a basic understanding of chemistry and at least two (2) years' experience in the hazardous waste industry, especially regarding preparing waste profiles and manifests.
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation required
