Job Description :

Akkodis is seeking a Waste Management Engineer | Environmental Engineer for a direct hire/ full-time position with a client in Glendale, Kentucky.

Rate Range: $80,000.00/year to $104,000.00/year; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Waste Management Engineer | Environmental Engineer job responsibilities include:

  • Total Waste Management: Overseeing Total Waste Management (TWM) Program
  • to ensure waste is managed, stored, and disposed according to regulatory and corporate environmental requirements. Manage and review waste profiles, characterizations, and shipping manifests.
  • Develop Waste Management Plans: Designing and implementing comprehensive waste management plans that align with regulatory requirements and company sustainability goals.
  • Waste Stream Analysis: Conducting thorough analysis of waste streams generated during battery production processes to identify opportunities for reduction, reuse, and recycling.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize production processes and minimize waste generation at the source.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance waste management efficiency, sustainability actions, cost reductions, and minimize environmental risks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including but not limited to air quality, water quality, and waste management.
  • Environmental Monitoring/Inspections: Conduct regular environmental inspections and monitoring activities to identify potential areas of concern, track environmental key performance indicators, track emissions, effluents, and waste generation. Utilize environmental inspections to analyze data and identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing compliance with environmental standards. Support agency inspections and internal / external audits.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the plant's environmental footprint, such as energy conservation, water recycling, waste reduction strategies, pollution prevention measures, and carbon footprint reduction.
  • Environmental Training: Provide environmental training to plant personnel to ensure awareness and compliance with environmental policies and procedures.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related field, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of waste management (solid, hazardous, universal and waste water).
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, compliance requirements and ISO 14001.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proven commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability principles.
