**The hours for this job are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.**

**POSITION PROFILE:**

* Collects, may label and transfers all hazardous waste to the appropriate storage area within the facility.

* Collects, sorts and may ship all recyclable waste material.

* Cross-docks all waste from the regions to the appropriate compactor or staging area using hi-lo or other material handling equipment.

* Follows company safety policies and procedures.

* May coordinate waste pickups as needed by calling the appropriate vendor or waste carrier.

* May monitor hazardous waste inventory and contact workteam leader to setup hazardous waste shipments.

* May perform weekly written inspections of storage area to ensure all hazardous waste drums are in proper safe condition.

* Monitors and collects lightbulbs, batteries, and other electronic waste for scheduled pick-up.

* Monitors Dust Collection System and PVC Collectors. Empties them when needed.

* Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

* Performs weekly dust collection inspections to ensure environmental compliance.

* Provides emergency response containment and cleanup of all hazardous waste spills, also must be prepared to respond on off hours or weekends when necessary.

* Removes all waste from plant using a waste cart or hi-lo.

* Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Required Skills One of the following is required:

(1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example),

(2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency

Required Experience **Hi-Lo/Forklift license is preferred.**

* Must be able to obtain a hi-lo and personal cart license.

* Must be physically able to move a minimum of 60 lbs.

* Must be able to comprehend safety labels, instructions, etc.

* Must be able to obtain appropriate emergency response first responder - operation level training, hazardous waste handling training, and DOT Hazardous material training certification.

* Must be able to obtain a hazardous waste storage certification in order to gain access to chemical storage areas or facilities.

* Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software and tools currently used in the Herman Miller office environment.

* Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
