Waste-Water Treatment Operator
Summary:
The candidate in this classification will perform semi-skilled and skilled physical labor in support of the operation, maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment system. They operate equipment and perform functions with a minimum of supervision within project guidelines established by the lead worker or foreman. Work is reviewed while in progress or when completed.
Responsibilities:
* Monitor and perform daily checks of wastewater treatment processes and troubleshoots as needed for proper operation.
* Monitor and maintain chemical tanks for reagents and floc additions.
* Collect samples and perform daily checks of metal from the effluent.
* Verify pH of effluent daily and notify plating lead/Production Supervisor of any excursions.
* Standardize pit (pH) probes weekly, document results.
* Maintain pH chart recorder for final discharge.
* Organize and schedule 3rd party monitoring to satisfy local MSD permit requirements.
* Work with Plating Supervisor/Lead, or Process Engineer to help identify and resolve problems in the department with respect to the wet process solutions.
* Organize and run tests as outlined by Production Supervisor, or Process Engineer to improve processes, troubleshoot processes, or to introduce new processes.
* Control the storage of all Hazardous Waste.
* Schedule, and contact 3rd party vendors to remove and dispose of all waste for the site.
* Treat and dispose of chemical waste for the department.
* Maintain all required records.
* Handle E-Waste and Universal Waste.
* Daily checks of all aspects of DI water system to ensure system operates smoothly.
* Monitor water holding tanks all shift.
* Perform daily checks of specific gravity of water.
* Response immediately to any problem of the system.
* Perform preventative maintenance of WWT system.
Job Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
* 1-2 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of pumps and pump motors
* Shall be part of the emergency response team.
* 2-4 years experience as a Chemical Operator, chemical handling, or waste treatment operator.
* Able to read, calibrate, replace charts, and perform routine maintenance on utility system meters.
* Should be familiar with hazardous waste.
* A basic understanding of RCRA, hazardous waste, and HAZWOPER is a plus.
