Water Resources Engineer - GKY : Job Details

The Opportunity:

The successful applicant will perform the engineering duties required for water resources projects, focusing on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling. The work involves processing watershed data using GIS tools, running computer models (primarily PCSWMM), finding solutions to relieve flooding, and writing technical memoranda and reports.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to investigate resilience, storm drainage issues, floodplain studies, stream restoration, dam safety analyses, and stormwater management designs.
• Provide modeling support to a design team working on plans and specifications for stormwater facilities and drainage infrastructure projects.
• Prepare client deliverables such as reports (including figures and tables), technical memoranda, cost estimates, and computer models.
• Conduct background research on technical issues and contribute to reports and memoranda.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with coursework in water resources (including hydrology and hydraulics).
• EIT or Licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia (preferred).
• 0 to 8 years of professional experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and related design projects.
• Proficiency with SWMM, HEC-RAS, and other hydrologic and hydraulic software
• Proficiency with mapping and data analysis using ArcGIS
• Must have a valid driver's license, ability to pass a DMV record check, and be insurable
• Must be dependable, responsible, and have good communication skills
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
