Examples of Important & Essential Duties (included but not limited to)
- Exercise and perform basic maintenance on valves, blow-offs, fire hydrants, air vacs, sample stations, water meters, and other water appurtenances.
- Assist in responding to emergencies as required during normal working hours, weekends, nights and holidays.
- Perform installation and repair on water services, water mains, fire hydrants, fire services and other related water appurtenances.
- Responds to customer complaints and troubleshoot system for cause of complaints.
- Operates tools and equipment as assigned by crew lead or supervisor for performing utility maintenance repair activities.
- Observes and follows established safety precautions regarding traffic control, confined space, trenching, excavating, and power equipment operation.
- Read and troubleshoot automated meters using drive-by technology.
- Flush, monitor, and maintain water quality in existing dead end lines.
- Locating and marking utility lines/services.
- Remove and replace concrete and asphalt as required when performing utility maintenance.
- Requires working in a strenuous environment with heavy lifting.
