Our team is currently hiring a Senior Grants Analyst (Management Analyst 5) to conduct grant tracking, transparency, risk management, and communication for both internal and external agency partners.The Senior Grants Analyst will also oversee grant renewals, budget status analysis, and regularly review and analyze policies and regulations for development.If this role sounds like the ideal opportunity for your skillset, we welcome you to apply and join our mission in Serving Those Who Served! Please note:The schedule for this position is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday in-office at our Central Office in Olympia. Some evening and weekend work may be required to meet program needs. Time may be spent in other remote office locations at military installations, government agencies, or other private partners and occasional travel is required. An alternative work schedule and hybrid telework may be authorized based on mission requirements.

In addition, we provide critical community services through a variety of programs, and at our four State Veterans Homes located in Orting, Port Orchard, Spokane, and Walla Walla. These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.

Some of what you'll do:
  • Establish and maintain files of proposals and current grants.
  • Accumulate statistics for grant proposals.
  • Notify all concerned of application deadlines and end dates.
  • Complete narrative, technical, and financial reports.
  • Offer complex and technical support services, including coordinating interagency partnerships, composing correspondence, and organizing and scheduling meetings and conferences.
  • Create and maintain tracking mechanisms to provide transparency on grant status to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Add new awards and track deliverables and end dates in the grant system.
  • Enforce and communicate currently in-development processes by developing risk profiles for each grant and creating contingency plans.
  • Communicate all new grant processes and plans to the agency.
  • Conduct analysis of grant-related delivery issues.
  • Develop alignment between agency and divisional goals, objectives, strategies, and current grants.
  • Develop a prioritization model and an assessment tool to be used for future grant opportunities.
  • Process grant renewals and serve as the primary point of contact for programs regarding the operating grant budget status.
Required:
  • A combination of education and professional experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis. Professional experience must be relevant to the position.
  • A bachelor's degree in applied analytics, accounting, computer science, information systems, or a related field.AND
  • Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Fiscal data analytics.
    • Conducting in-depth research.
    • Business analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Entry-level database management skills for systems such as Microsoft Access and Oracle Database to help collect and utilize data for grant writing and reporting.
    • Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • Written and spoken communication to diverse and varied audiences, specifically with the intent to teach and build relationships.
  • Ability to:
    • Conduct research on complex, multifaceted subject areas and maintain information on varied and changing topics.
    • Create and deliver professional and compelling presentations.
    • Work effectively within tight deadlines and continuously changing priorities with strong attention to detail.
    • Adapt and learn in new environments and adequately take direction and work amicably as a team and build productive working relationships with a varied and diverse group of people.
Preferred/Desired:
  • Five (5) years of experience working in grant administration.
  • Three (3) years of experience working for a Washington state agency.
  • Two (2) years of experience in process improvement strategies such as Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with Workday software.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with grant management systems to help establish a routing and accessible storage system for DVA grants.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Uniform Guidance.
Special Requirements:
  • Must be able pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance. In an emergency situation, employees may be asked to stay for an extended period of time and perform duties appropriate to the situation.
  • Must successfully complete all requirements indicated in position description within mandated timeframes.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
