The We Speak NYC (WSNYC) Coordinator, under the supervision of the ESOL Programs Manager, will schedule, staff, support, and monitor numerous WSNYC classes across Brooklyn. The WSNYC Coordinator will ensure smooth implementation and delivery of the WSNYC curriculum to adult ESOL students in up to 20 Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) branches.

Primary responsibilities include program planning and implementation, scheduling classes, guiding instruction, and monitoring curriculum adherence; recruitment and supervision of WSNYC instructors, and supervision of the WSNYC Program Assistant; tracking and logging program data such as attendance, student and staff feedback, and overall program efficiency. The Coordinator will have a shared workspace at the Pacific Library branch, however, traveling to and working from participating branches will be expected. As an extension of the ESOL department, the Coordinator will collaborate and work closely with the Adult Learning leadership team as well as Outreach Services staff to ensure alignment with institutional, departmental, and program priorities as well as on continuous improvement and quality management of staff and student experiences. The Coordinator represents the library through community outreach and liaising with departmental and institutional partners.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and schedule WSNYC classes and various branches.
  • Monitor, collect, and analyze pertinent data, including student demand, attendance, instructional delivery, and student feedback.
  • Analyze and monitor programmatic data for ongoing program improvement; draft and submit grant proposals and reports to the ESOL Programs Manager and other stakeholders throughout BPL.
  • Select, monitor, and mentor part-time WSNYC instructors; Model professional and pedagogical practices for instructors and staff.
  • Supervise the WSNYC Program Assistant and other administrative and support staff.
  • Liaise with Outreach Services staff to gather and share information on program outputs, outcomes, referrals, stats, etc.
  • Implement and communicate library and program policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the delivery of proper training and support for part-time WSNYC instructors.
  • Collaborate with the Adult Learning team and library partners to ensure the quality of the ESOL programs.
  • Order materials, copies, and supplies to support all of the WSNYC classes.
  • Present on WSNYC classes and initiative at departmental, institutional, and/or at external meetings.
  • Participate in professional development activities designed to enhance and improve WSNCY program performance.
  • Network with the adult education community to stay abreast of trends, best practices, and the evolving field.

Qualifications:
  • BA Degree in Education or related field
  • Masters Degree in Education preferred
  • Three - five years of experience in adult education, preferably in ESOL programs.
  • Experience with supervision of staff and instructional leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and schedules; experience planning and scheduling.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team; contributes to departmental initiatives.
  • Experience in management of data and reports using platforms like ASISTS and Salesforce a plus
  • Leadership inspires and motivates others to perform well.
  • Familiarity with integration of technology into educational programs including online and web-based applications for instruction; fluency with Zoom, Teams, Webex, Google Classroom
  • Strong facility with computer software applications Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule, including evenings and Saturday.
  • Travel required; ability to drive a plus.
  • Ability to lift and carry programming materials.

This a grant-funded, non-union position funded through 6/30/25 with a salary range of $50,000-$55,000.
