Job Description :

Natural Retreats is seeking an experienced Web Solutions Architect to join our IT Team. The Web Solutions Architect serves as the champion and steward of web content management platforms and related delivery processes at Natural Retreats. This position will be doing application design and development for our CMS and eCommerce systems. Experience working with Adobe Experience Cloud systems, such as AEM, Target and Analytics is highly desired. Prior experience with CMS systems is a requirement. The selected candidate must be available for periodic travel to Natural Retreats offices across the US. This position will be based out of the Charlottesville, Virginia headquarters office with the option for remote working arrangements. To be considered for a remote work arrangement, applicants must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead application design for all feature delivery on NaturalRetreats.com, 360Blue.com, CallistaVacations.com, and related sub-systems.
  • Build relationships with internal customers and partners to understand their needs, priorities, roadmap, and definition of success.

  • Drive the technical evaluation of technologies and vendor solutions including industry trends and best practices.

  • Develop and communicate application design documentation intended for both business and technical audiences.

  • Design user flows, platform architecture, software patterns, and data models to support current and long-term business needs.

  • Design and develop proof-of-concepts, prototypes, reference architectures, and implementations as needed to support the technical planning of platform and business projects.

  • Drive integration strategy for corporate systems and applications.

  • Provide technical oversight of platform improvements and business projects.

  • Partner with other technical staff, platform leadership, business partners, as well as functional leads in areas such as Security, Privacy, IT Compliance, Business Intelligence, and Data Governance to ensure that Natural Retreats' platform capabilities are meeting the needs and standards of diverse stakeholders.

  • Establish application standards and best practices with regards to web-based solution development.

  • Manage vendor and other third party relationships pertinent to the web content management platforms.

  • Work with operations engineers to troubleshoot and identify resolutions for user-reported issues.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

REQUIRED

  • 10+ years experience developing web applications utilizing modern software patterns and standards, with 5+ years in the role of lead/senior developer.
  • 5+ years experience in application design and development of a CMS or eCommerce system. Preference is given to candidates who have worked with Adobe Experience Cloud systems, such as AEM, Target and Analytics.

  • 5+ years developing solutions based on Java technology

  • Extensive experience in the following disciplines - Application Architecture, Information Modeling, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Object Oriented Programming, Quality Assurance, and Branch Management

  • Solid working experience with Software Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

  • Significant experience integrating SAAS solutions, managing vendors and integrating with internal and third-party systems.

  • Exceptional communications skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to business users.

  • Significant experience collaborating with business stakeholders in an agile environment.

  • Ability to define and evolve an application to align with stakeholder priorities and timeline.

  • Ability to collaborate within your own department as well as across the organization.

  • Experience mentoring and coaching technical team members in a matrix organization.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience*.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Natural Retreats' core business hours for our support offices are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, other project work or responsibilities may require the Team Member to occasionally work outside of this schedule. ​​​​​​​ *As part of our hiring process, we conduct pre employment background checks.
