The City of Morgan Hill is looking for part-time Customer Service Representatives for the Welcome Center/Front Desk to work at any of our City of Morgan Hill Recreation Facilities. We are looking for dynamic leaders who can deliver excellent customer service to members, guests and the public. The ability to multi-task and use a computer is a must. The Customer Service Representative responds to member and guest needs, promotes membership and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization in areas throughout the facility.ScheduleWe are looking for teammates that can work year-round. Position requires availability of 15-20 hours per week. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Current recruitment is for teammates that can work early morning and mid-day shifts, year-round.Application & Selection ProcessApplications will be screened, and those applicants determined to have the best experience, skills, and qualifications will be invited to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, applicant must authorize and successfully complete a reference check, a background check (fingerprinting for submission to the Department of Justice), and a Tuberculosis (TB) screening. Examples of Duties Duties include
  • Providing excellent customer service and communication to members and guests
  • Greet the public and answer phone calls
  • Answer questions and explain routine policies and procedures
  • Responsible for giving tours to prospective new members and all required follow up activity.
  • Have excellent understanding and knowledge of programs and services for both the City of Morgan Hill and the YMCA.
  • Process registrations and fees for classes and programs.
  • Be able to effectively learn and use systems for both the City of Morgan Hill and YMCA.
  • Scan cards, and greet each member, guest, volunteer, and teammate by name
  • Operate standard office equipment
  • Enforce Centennial Recreation Center and Aquatics Center rules and regulations
  • Maintain accurate records and complete related reports
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of the Centennial Recreation Center and Aquatics Center
  • Maintain good public relations
  • Clean, disinfect, and organize work area and facility to meet all procedures identified in Operating Plan
  • Follow all cash handling procedures
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements Education
  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent is desirable, but not required
Experience
  • Be coachable and able to take direction from direct supervisor
  • Previous experience working at a busy front desk or in a social or recreational program is desirable
  • Possess excellent listening and communication skills and have basic computer experience
  • Possess a courteous, professional manner
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Proficient in the English language. Bilingual preferred
Certificates Valid American Red Cross Adult and Child CPR and First Aid Certification is desirable (must be obtained in first 90 days).Special RequirementsPosition requires availability of 15-20 hours per week. Applicants must be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours; including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Current recruitment is for year-round, morning and mid-day shifts. Part-time employees are enrolled in the PARS retirement system and the employee pays 7.5%, which is deducted from the employees' payroll check. The PARS retirement system is in lieu of participating in social security. Part-time employees participate in the Medicare portion of social security as that is a required program.
