About the job Welder Welder IIAbout the Role:The KA Group is a global leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of earthmoving scrapers and accessories for the construction, mining, and agricultural industries. The Company is composed of three brands, namely K-TEC, Ashland, and Metalcraft, with the brands products being differentiated by size, target markets, and the technologies offered. KA Group maintains manufacturing and warehouse facilities in Manitoba and Wisconsin.Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Welding: Perform MIG welding on steel structural tubing and complex assemblies, adhering to AWS D1.1 and D1.2 standards to build various structural components, assemblies, and scrapers.
- Complex Fabrication: Demonstrate the ability to layout and weld complicated steel assemblies. Manage heat build-up, distortion, and stack-up, and maintain squareness.
- Part Fabrication: Fabricate parts to meet specific end-use design requirements, ensuring functionality and accuracy.
- Installation: Install rough and finished components into mobile platforms accurately and efficiently.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret architectural blueprints and technical drawings.
- Measurement: Take precise measurements and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit and alignment of components.
- Tool Proficiency: Operate common power and pneumatic tools effectively, including drills, skill saws, jig saws, routers, grinders, sanders, and torque wrenches.
- Quality and Efficiency: Perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision, demonstrate high-quality workmanship and efficiency with attention to detail, particularly when working with finish surfaces and materials.
- Compliance: Adhere to all workmanship standards, safety policies, housekeeping requirements, and ISO standards.
- Additional duties as assigned to support the goals of the team and organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- Mechanical aptitude and basic problem-solving skills for understanding of root cause analysis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills and a proactive approach to completing tasks.
- Capacity to maintain focus and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills for job costing and input of other data crucial to tracking KPIs.
- Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
- Effectively and safely operate a variety of assigned tools and equipment.
- Able to perform repetitive tasks; high physical activity
- Able to bend, kneel, stoop, stand, reach, climb, twist and/or crawl
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted as required.
- Able to work in areas regularly exposed to high noise level and vibration; not afraid of heights
- Able to pass a weld test
- Technical college diploma or equivalent certification in welding or a related field.
- Minimum Level II Welder certification with demonstrated ability to handle complex welding and fabrication tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience in a welding role, with a strong understanding of blueprints and technical documents.
- Hands-on experience with various hand and power tools.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent safety and housekeeping practices.
- Experience with ISO standards or similar quality management systems is a plus.
