Join us for a rewarding career in the aviation industry!BECOME A WHEELCHAIR DISPATCHER!The Wheelchair Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing the efficient deployment of wheelchair services throughout the airport. This role involves scheduling and dispatching wheelchair attendants to assist passengers with mobility challenges, ensuring timely and effective service. You will monitor flight schedules, passenger needs, and attendant availability to optimize resource distribution and response times. Additionally, the position requires maintaining clear communication with airport staff, attendants, and passengers to facilitate a smooth and supportive experience for those requiring assistance.WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WORK AS A WHEELCHAIR DISPATCHERCoordinate the dispatch of wheelchair services throughout the airport terminalsRespond promptly to requests for wheelchair assistance from airline personnel and passengersManage the scheduling and routing of wheelchair attendants to maximize efficiencyTrack the availability and location of wheelchairs and mobility equipmentMaintain clear communication with airport staff, including gate agents and customer service representativesProvide training and guidance to wheelchair attendants on proper handling and safety protocolsHandle passenger inquiries and concerns related to wheelchair servicesMaintain records and logs of wheelchair dispatches and assistance providedCollaborate with airport security and medical teams in case of emergenciesOversee the maintenance and readiness of wheelchair equipmentLiaise with airline and airport personnel to streamline wheelchair service operationsPrepare reports on service metrics, challenges, and improvements for management reviewMay be assigned other duties as requiredQUALIFICATIONS18 years of age or olderEligible to work in the United States1 year of wheelchair experienceAbility to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documentsAbility to use electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile DevicesEffectively communicate both in-person and through electronic meansEligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)Ability to work any day/shift, including holidays, within a 24/7 operationPHYSICAL ACTIVITY/WORKING CONDITIONS MAY INCLUDE:Ability to lift up to 25 poundsPosition is generally sedentary, sitting for long periods of timeMust be able to push, pullMust be able to crawl, at times in confined tight spacesMust be able to bend, stretch, squatMust be able to work at elevated heightsExposure to moderate and at times high noise levelsExposure to Biohazards and/or ChemicalsExposure to outdoor elementsBe able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarmsTasks may involve repetitive motions of the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingersSpecific vision abilities required for this job include: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
